Cozy room, great location, friendly staff, provided an easy access map and suggestions for exploring the area and noted transportation options nearby.
Everything was good.

This hotel is superb - friendly, funky, clean, well located and very reasonably priced. It is well above a normal 3 star.

A very warm welcome on our arrival. This is a hotel with a truly personal touch. The owners and staff take great pride in making their guests feel welcome, comfortable and are only too happy to assist with anything. Breakfast (inclusive) varies daily with much of the food being locally sourced or homemade and the coffee is to die for. Recommendations are made daily of places to visit, venues to eat at. We ate twice at venues local to the hotel, away from city centre - excellent food at great value. With many thanks to Jork for being to good to us during our stay, he's a credit to the owners Michael & Manfred - good luck with your next venture.

The hotel is in just the right location, close to everything. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was great and the rate was spot on. You can tell that a lot of thought has gone into this hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Everything was great, no complaints at all.

The location of this so-called 'hotel' is decent, but the entire experience felt far from luxurious. I genuinely expected a warm reception or at least someone to bring me a coffee during breakfast, but alas, nothing. No snacks left on the pillows, and my room smelled rather stale. Who knew I had to air it out myself?

very good breakfast, information about weather and cultural events, good internet acces, calm place very near to the railway station and centr, parking at oposite side of street, not far to good restaurant nad shops.

missingWrote a review on 30 Octcentral locationgood breakfastpoor soundproofing
The location makes it easy to get to the city center, with many sights within a short walk. The breakfast selection included made-to-order eggs.
The bathroom was like a closet, cramped and poorly lit. It seems the soundproofing could use some work. Every footstep in the hall and vehicle outside was audible. Small amenities like a kettle or mini fridge were missing, and the consistent stale smell in the room was off-putting.

The staff was very kind and helpful.
There was no air conditioning and unfortunately the temperature reached 32 ºc on the second day in the hotel - could not sleep very well. The black out curtains do not really black out - as everywhere in Europe. This is the only thing I did not like about the hotel. If I have been there 3 days earlier I would have no complaints.

The staff are very pleasant, the hotel is stylish and with particularly good location near to the main train station in Cologne, the old town restaurant and shopping area, and River Rhine. The atmosphere of the venue is homelike. The service is friendly, includes private parking. Besides, it offers free wifi to guests. They have variety of meals to choose from, the food is incredible...

We had one of 2 rooms on the top floor. It is a Superior Double but the sitting area can be used for a 3rd person. The room had an a/c unit but weather was cool and we did not need it. Breakfast was good with homemade bread, almond butter, hard-boiled eggs, meats, cheese, yogurt and fruit. The reception staff spoke limited English but it was enough. Walking distance to the cathedral and shopping area. Secure, private parking right acrtoss the street.
Only complaint is the Street noise, especially the trash trucks early in the morning. Also several police sirens during the night.

Staying at Domstern was a treat! The location is perfect, just a 5-minute walk from the train station. The breakfast blew me away with fresh bread and made-to-order omelettes. My room was cozy, though a bit small, but fine for sleeping. Definitely recommend for a short trip!

Everything worked well - the room was practical, the staff friendly, the breakfast excellent - and it was just 300 metres from the Hauptbahnhof. On our next visit to Cologne, we will stay there again.

All the reviews are right! For the price this is an excellent hotel. The decor is a refreshing change from the multi-national hotel chains. Nice and small and personal. I travel to Cologne a few times a year and will try and stay here in future.
